Merry Christmas from Rookie TV!

2009 December 25

Wassup people? This is your boy Rookie reppin Rookie TV wanting to wish you guys a Happy Holiday in whatever you celebrate. People are maaaad sensitive as far as what they actually celebrate. Typically, a greeting consists of the word “Happy” followed by the holiday, such as “Happy Hanukkah” or “Happy New Year”, although the phrase “Merry Christmas” is a notable exception.
http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/12/l_c07850d542ba1c10ca840ca52037c431.jpg
In the United States, the collective phrase “Happy Holidays” is often used as a generic cover-all greeting for all of the Winter holidays, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. Controversy has arisen in the U.S regarding its usage of the phrase “Happy Holidays”, as an alleged attempt to diminish the Christian elements of Christmas, although its use promotes other holidays commonly celebrated there.

Did Santa bring you guys and gals what you wanted? Well, I don’t even put up a tree so the fat dude I guess had nothing to aim for. Oh yeah I forgot, he never came when I was a kid either LOL. In fact m parents would tell me that he helped them. Hear me? Santa was a helper to them, but they got the gifts :) I had good parents. They saw how geeked I was about the fat man and they neither supported nor dispelled the myth for my little green ass. Thanks Dad and mom. This is for you guys!

Man you won’t see me making fun of Jesus like our lighter counterparts, but I will make fun of Chris Kringle in a minute LOL! Hes a fictional character. Speaking of fictional characters my favorite fictional characters right now have to be the cast of Boondocks.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/d/df/TheBoondocksTVseries.jpg/250px-TheBoondocksTVseries.jpg
Our boy McGruder’s is coming out with a new season of The Boondocks. That’s right, season 3 will be out in 3 months!! Talk about Christmas gifts for parents!!! For all of you all who have no idea what I’m talking about, here is a clip of Huey of the Boondocks letting his grand dad know about the true meaning of Christmas LOL. So heartwarming (holding back a tear)!

Hahahahaha usually, its the adults that ruin the Christmas cheer for the kids, Huey believe it or not has a brother named Riley on the show, and you know he had to have a crack at Christmas and its meaning as well. Or maybe just a crack at santa LOL! In this clip he takes to Santa like Elin Nordegren took to Tigers ass with a club and nothin but angst for the fat man. PAY WHAT U OWE SANTA!!!

LOL you gotta love the innocent mind of children now a days. I love that cartoon. I swear my son reminds me of a young Huey Freeman, and I’m not the only one. Shout out to the mother of my child :) Yet and still it is Christmas time again. A great excuse for people in the city and rural areas as well to spread cheer all about no matter what they believe in. Pagan holiday or not its just good when people spread cheer without discrimination isn’t it?

Check out one of the funniest cats I know on the web, Mr. Chi City as he give away Christmas presents to random people on the streets. And if by random you think I mean Crackheads and homeless people, you are correct!

As far as I know that was real!! And since this is Chicago, a few of them people looked familiar too. Man Mr. Chi City is a funny dude and you can look forward to a future blog with his retarded as on it really soon. I hit him up about getting on Rookie TV, but still no response. Maybe his rich ass will donate some loot to us :)

No matter what you celebrate just remember, this is a time we get together and celebrate family and use our off days wisely. Before you get drunk and hire that hooker with the Santa hat to walk all over you and call you a filthy maggot, get up with your family and remind them why you are happy to be apart. If you cant afford presents just be there anyway, anybody tripping offa presents that is over the age of 13 is obviously not that far advanced and needs a time out from the Supernanny! Last but not least I wanna leave you all with the classic Santa FAIL of all time. His answer to R Kelly’s Trapped in the Closet. Ladies and gentlemen I give you, “Trapped in the Cluaset!” Hahahahaahaa (ahem) I mean Ho Ho Ho Ho (coughs.)

Happy Holidays from the Rookie TV fam! and remember, to read this, love this, spread this. Here’s a little new music for you from a guy named Obese and Rashid Hadee, it has nothing to do with Christmas or the Holidays, but it’s free and its dope!!! Now you can’t say I’ve never given you anything.
Shogunn – Tempting feat Rashid Hadee & Obese prod by Rashid Hadee.mp3

P.S. Don’t get too drunk this Holiday, because if you got boys like we do, they will take pictures LOL

You Tube video offered a $30m deal to do movie!!! Whens our turn :)

2009 December 20

A producer from Uruguay who uploaded a short film to YouTube in November 2009 has been offered a $30m (£18.6m) contract to make a Hollywood film.

The movie will be sponsored by director Sam Raimi, whose credits include the Spiderman and Evil Dead films.

Fede Alvarez’s short film “Ataque de Panico!” (Panic Attack!) featured giant robots invading and destroying Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay.

It is 4 mins 48 seconds long and was made on a budget of $300 (£186).

So far it has had more than 1.5 million views on YouTube.

“I uploaded (Panic Attack!) on a Thursday and on Monday my inbox was totally full of e-mails from Hollywood studios,” he told the BBC’s Latin American service BBC Mundo.

“It was amazing, we were all shocked.”

The movie Mr Alvarez has been asked to produce is a sci-fi film to be shot in Uruguay and Argentina. He says he intends to start from scratch and develop a new story for the project.

“If some director from some country can achieve this just uploading a video to YouTube, it obviously means that anyone could do it,” he added.

YouTube recently revealed the most watched videos of 2009. Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle topped the chart with more than 120 million views worldwide of her debut on the show.

The success of this “YouTube” video is testament to how America has changed as far as obtaining a deal goes and I mean everything from film to music. Viral is the way to go. Maybe one day we will get discovered by some bored millionaire looking to invest. So check this out, Rookie TV has been viral for about 5 or 6 years now and we still have yet to have more ppl visiting the site besides my mother LOL. I’m exaggerating, but only a little. Help us spread this blog and our sites. Re-post all the blogs you dig and you may be responsible for an avalanche of re-posts. (Wouldn’t we love that?) We love yall.

Elzhi 4 Free

2009 December 16

That’s right dammit, Elzhi of Slum Village is following in the footsteps of many other artists with a free download-able album. It’s called “The Leftovers Unmixedtape:” and I’m like on track 14 after being stuck on track 7. a song called “Living (Prod. DJ Dez)”. Its got this sort of slow melodic trans-like flow to it that I can’t skip. That’s just me, see if you got a track you cant pass up as well. Elzhi, the last member of my favorite group in the world and though it seems not to say much, the most lyrical cat with the clique. Indecently, hes also one of the most lyrical cats I know bar none, but when Slum Village first began, this guy was not even with the team at the time. The entire Rookie TV camp knows how much of a Slum Village fan I am so you know I cant just give you the link to the download without a little of the history of the group. The group was formed by three members: rappers Baatin (deceased, 31 July 2009) and T3, plus rapper and producer J Dilla.

http://bandcamp.com/files/47/16/471691208-1.jpg

Baatin, T3, and Jay Dee grew up together in the Conant Gardens neighborhood of Detroit and attended Pershing High School. The group steadily became popular in Detroit’s underground hip hop scene. Jay Dee also became a member of the production team known as The Ummah, which produced the two last A Tribe Called Quest studio albums, as well as hits for a number of R&B and hip hop musicians. Slum Village’s first album, 1996’s Fantastic, Vol. 1, was not officially released until 2005 but highly sought after in underground circles. In 1998, the group opened for another hip hop trio, A Tribe Called Quest, on their farewell tour. Tribe basically put Slum Village on and I found out because Tribe was my favorite group by far at the time bar none!
http://images.starpulse.com/AMGPhotos/pic200/drp100/p198/p19840pp110.jpg
I can remember the first time I heard JDilla was on a mixtape Funkmaster Flex vol. 3 (back when they really were put on cassette tapes LOL) and I will never forget it because Q Tip was rapping with him on a rap with one of the hottest beats on the CD! I had that shit on repeat until it started skipping. It was on like track 33 I think. (I digress)

Originally Slum Village was signed to the now defunct A&M record label and the group was forced to postpone the release of their official debut album due to label politics, but in June 2000 they released Fantastic, Vol. 2 on Good Vibe Recordings. Also that year they released an album called Best Kept Secret, under the alias J-88, which featured remixes and leftover material from Fantastic, Vol. 1. I can remember Seeing Climax on MTV at the time and just couldn’t believe it. My favorite rap group I was actually watching on MTV like they were a pop act. It was fine to me, I felt they were getting some will needed exposure.

http://slumvillage.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/dilla-headerpic.jpg

Jay Dee left in 2002 to pursue a solo career with MCA Records and was replaced by Elzhi.
Jay Dee’s death (deceased in February 2006) brought about by complications from Lupus rocked not only Slum Village and the entire city of Detroit, but the nation and the world that followed hip hop since it’s infancy. Jay Dilla’s beats had spanned so many different artists genres and time periods that months after he had passed I was still learning of music he produced in his time on this earth. We did a tribute episode on www.GrafficAudio.com so check us out hosting on the roof top as we play music videos from many of the late rappers from Biggie to Dilla.

After Dilla there was an obvious void to fill, but what route would Slum Village take? Would they go for a Lyricist or a producer. Its far and few to find a cat that can do both like Dilla. In the end the Slum decided on getting a Lyricist by the name of Elzhi, and let me tell you he is ill. But I wasn’t sold on him at first. First time I can remember seeing him was on the Tainted video. I had to admit he came nice, but the video was so dope it would have been ultra hard to hate it.

http://slumvillage.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/p1.jpg
Shout out to Kinga, believe it or not, this is her photo that Slum Village’s official website yanked as a memorial to Baatin after his untimely death. Baatin got his start on the mic in 1986. In the early ’90s, he befriended the now deceased rapper Proof (of D12), and would accompany him to hip-hop nights at Stanley’s Café and 1515 Broadway. In 1991, Baatin’s hip-hop group, Ssenepod (dopeness spelled backward), changed its name to Slum Village, which at the time, was made up of Jay Dee, Baatin and T3. It was then that Glover first christened himself Scandalous-T. He remained as an active member of the group until the early 2000’s. In the year 2002, shortly after the release of the group’s third album, Baatin began to experience health problems, which interfered with the group’s music and touring performances.

By now, I had gotten used to the new look of Slum and I even got used to the other producers that weren’t Dilla like Black Milk and Young RJ. The cats had heat, but until Dilla passed, I just never noticed them as much. By the time Selfish had come out it was like the perfect cola to me. Here it was Slum Village was finally established AKA they weren’t hungry and Kanye West was Chicago’s fastest rising star at the time waaaaaaay before the Taylor Swift shit, although we did love the hell out of us some Senator Obama at the time :) The Sample is very familiar at first listen but West does a great job of making the beat uniquely his own. Elzhi is a beast on this song. I could tell the cat was gonna be something even before this.

I knew the Slum had changed when the group was no more than Elzhi and T3 and they did a video called “EZ UP” which was basically a 3min Chevy commercial. Notice not only the many cars in the video but all the references to cars as well. Look how clean the edits are LOL, little guys (unknown directors) like me can only dream of getting a project like this. Everything in this video has a place and there is a place for everything. Cue the vixens…NOW! HAHAHAHAHA! Ez Up!.

Well, things have changed, and since Slum has been doing better its been harder and harder to get at them to get interviews. I can remember them visiting Chicago years ago and we got the opportunity to hang with them briefly. The time was cut short because we asked too many questions about J Dilla as back then it was still too fresh (alcohol and interviewing doesn’t mix) Although our time was cut short, we did however manage to get some really tight footage of Elzhi spitting a few of the “Rules of Rap” a book he wrote on rhyme. To this day I don’t know if it was real , but the rhyme he spit was ridiculous. Also check Big DAVE as e shoots the first ever Drunkard Cam episodes of Rookie TV. Allow me to quote myself when I say, “Drunks are funny!”

This is the last video I have seen with the fellas minus J Dilla. A video called “Actin’ Normal”. Ironically it was right before Batiin was supposed to be getting back with the group after a short hiatus and a brutal battle with schizophrenia. Enjoy.

http://slumvillage.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/sv.jpg

Slum Village has weathered many Storms and believe it or not I been a fan throughout all of it. I think this is a testament to how much longevity they poses. They speak for not only Detroit, but hip hop as a whole. May their recordings live forever. Elzhi has done a great job since he was drafted by the SV and truthfully I only see good things coming from this guy in the future. I mean who give away a mix CD this hot for free? We are so lucky you guys!! Here’s the link…I know, FINALLY!!!! I love yall. Read this, love this, spread this.

Rookie

Disney’s: “The Princess and the Frog” Thanks, I guess?

2009 December 10

Ok, its December now and the first snow was yesterday so all Chicagoans know its all over as far as Any inkling of warm weather you feel like could come blow its as over these plains. Thanksgiving came and went and funny thing is compared to Christmas Thanksgiving is only a snack in my family. All those in the Rookie TV Family chilled with family and ultimately it was a good holiday as long as you ignore the true meaning of the season.

http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/109/l_460447482ec0b454f2480122259b1821.jpg

Christmas season already started though. It begins faster and faster every year. I think I started seeing Christmas ads 2 days before Halloween this time LMAO! Anyway with the Holiday season as you know comes tons and tons of movies. Flicks for adults like Invictus with Morgan Freeman and Sherlock Homes with Robert Downey Jr. Also, there are movies for the Children as well. One of the movies getting alot of attention right now is the Disney movie The “Princess and the Frog” and it drops today!. Everyone is so happy because for the 1st time Disney is portraying a black princess in their list of princesses of the past. http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/images/princessandthefrogconcept1-580x322.jpgPrincess Tiana is among a long list of princesses in the Disney lineup. Need I name her many colleagues: Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas and Mulan just to name a few.

There are many stars and icons as well that lent their voices to the many characters of the story which should making the movie interesting yet and still diverse. Everyone from the likes of Oprah to John Goodman is apart of the list of talent Disney hired for this portrayal of New Orleans as Disney sees it.

Finally, a black princess to add to the list after all these years. Now I love animation, in fact C-Dub and I actually met in high school in Advanced Art class. He and I love art and animation so much that we are advocates for there being more animation in creative works as a whole. Not only are we advocates, but we are also in a cartoon :) http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/55/l_275ae4bd9f08c67b8d7e4776fc95a755.jpg Check the website for that, but only after you read this! Where this becomes a Rookie TV Blog is the fact that Disney totally missed the boat on this one. You mean to tell me that it took Disney 59yrs to finally attempt to cater to the little black kids that buy their movies all the time and pad the infrastructure that allows them to continue to produce movies that look nothing like them? I know what many are saying while reading this. “Why not be happy, things are changing and if anything this is proof of the change?” Well speaking of “Change” hell, America chose to be led by an African-American black president before this movie happened. I see this as an outrage and a failed attempt to make up for lost time. I know I sound like a hater and to tell you the truth I don’t give a fuck because for ages we blacks have had to stomach alot of idiosyncrasies as far as animation goes.

Ok let’s play reminisce! What were your favorite cartoons from when you were growing up? Please don’t answer this if your under 21. Mine were, G.I. Joe, He Man, Voltron, and the Silver Hawks. I liked more but this blog need not be long as the Bible. These toons all were enjoyed by kids of all ages and races as well but there were few representations of other races in them to reflect even a portion of the spectrum that is the children that watch them every night. I can remember being a kid and not really feeling the culture shock that was playing before me. I was living in a black household, going to a black church, attending a black school yet seeing anything but white toons on the screen. Now you may say that this is harmless but this type of conditioning shapes minds and during the time when a child needs to know and love oneself in order to be able to love and want to understand others as well. I grew up drawing white people all the time. I never drew pictures of kids or adults or old people that weren’t white. I don’t know what I was thinking outside of “I’m just drawing it as I see it in my head”. Any Psychologist will tell you this is not normal behavior.

During recent years we African Americans found ourselves being incorporated in cartoons more and not just in the mammy character in Tom and Jerry sort of way. http://theangryblackwoman.files.wordpress.com/2007/08/foxxyminstrel.jpg We actually were seeing characters of color on the screen. Another phenomenon dealing with cartoons however was the issue of the voices of the characters. Oftentimes black characters are voiced by white people. Not necessarily racist, but a slap in the face seeing that there is tons of black voice talent out there to choose from and hire from the union. Check out this clip from “The Cleveland Show”. This is a more recent illustration of my point I’m trying to make using a character from the popular Family Guy cartoon. And YES the voice of Cleveland is white people, and a surprisingly good one.

Oh, heres me asa SipmsonCharacter for no apparent reason.
http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/94/m_6102358897b656fcb9012913d4c74f56.jpg

In contrast, this has happened recently in the popular cartoon Boondocks where Charlie Murphy and Samuel Jackson lend their voices to two white characters on the show. LOL so thee is two sides to the coin…but only recently.

Weird isn’t it? Crazy to use a black man, no matter how well known for a white character when its tons of white actors to choose from, right? I been feeling like this since like the 80s LOL.

Some people like to refer to the characters in toons that apply a little diversity to the piece, “tokens”. These “token” characters were far and few but they were all we had to represent us as a whole on the screen. The issue of affirmative action made it such that for every few characters another diversity had to be introduced. This is good in some cases, just plain embarrassing in others. Here is a video that pokes fun at the presence of these “tokens” in some very familiar toons of yesteryear.

more about "Black People in Cartoons!", posted with vodpod

So we have went from not being in cartoons at all, to being symbols of racist viewpoints in cruel jokes, to being sprinkled into cartoons with the purpose of strategically diversifying toons for greater appeal to finally being represented in Disney. Did I mention there was a half fish bitch represented before we got a piece of that pie?

http://freetheunicorns.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/mermaiddm1608_468x4742.jpg

I think by now you are noticing a drastic change in the tone of this blog and the mood of the argument and if that be the case I am glad. This is the same way many African-Americans feel when we see misrepresentation of our images on the screen of any kind. From Cartoons to skits to sports. Long story but in short, it hurts. We went for so long not being represented at all, Id rather not be in a movie or cartoon if I had the option of either that or be included in the production but in a demeaning or misrepresenting way.

My beef with “The Princess and the Frog is not as much of a argument of racism but rather of time. Why did it take so long? Why has it come out the same year as the election of the Nations first African American President? Don’t get me wrong, many other things have changed as well, tons of shows from News to our favorite smut shows are trying to increase their color count. But why now? Check out this clip from a well known green screen-based talk show poking fun at the Insider. Simple question, not so simple answer, right?

Controversy surrounding the movie include issues with the original title (The Frog Princess-insinuating black women are ugly perhaps?), the Princess’ original name (Maddy-not ‘ethnic’ enough perhaps?), as well as the setting of New Orleans-a region where the lives of many black families (and white families) were devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Additional complaints include: the use of voodoo magic and an alligator sidekick, making the film seem somewhat (if unintentionally) racist and pointed.

The Princess and the Frog

But let’s be honest here. It’s an animated movie, people. It is not a social cry or a political statement. It’s about a princess and her talking animal friends. Sounds like every other movie Disney has ever spit out. Still thinking The Princess and the Frog is racial? Well, consider the following racial assumptions made in other Disney animated features over the years:

* In Aladdin, Princess Jasmine has an Anglocized name that doesn’t originate from Saudi Arabia.
* In Mulan, the title character has a pet dragon, which could be offensive to the Chinese people.
* Magic or the occult is used in several (almost all) films including: The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Sword and the Stone, Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty…So why is voodoo considered a taboo for The Frog Princess? If it’s a complaint about religious practices, it might be valid.

Look, I’m not totally pissed at the new movie, I am glad we finally got “on” in Disney’s (the greatest owner and distributer of porn in the world) eyes and graced the screen as a main character and not simply a supporting character, or a character of color with a white voice over. Let’s be honest, the princess is going to be on the screen for all of about 30% of the movie and for the other 70% we will see her as the frog and be rooting her to find her human self again and change back the entire way. However, we have come a long way and I do feel a bit of gratitude in my soul as an artist. But I do however plead with you, artists, fans, and big wigs, to please part from these images that haunt America’s past like an old bitter ghost. And to all the parents who do see the movie as an inspiration and will be taking the kids to see it, watch and enjoy, but don’t forget to teach your kids of the history behind the images of color on the screen. For the following video was only but a few short decades ago.

As always I gotta give up the comfort music after a deep topic like that. Heres a mixtape by one of Chicago’s slept on produers. Repping All Natural is my guy 5th Element, with the Soul Wonderful pt1 mixtape. This is a hot array of soulful samples cut into a hip hop gumbo that’s mixed in damn near every unsigned artist in Chicago that is nice on the mic. I love free music, don’t you? Read this, love this, spread this.

Mixtape Session number…damn, I forgot.

2009 December 9

Wassup all. For those who have been following us on our various outlets you know we have been staying mad busy. We are remodeling the website TOTALLY, we are still doing new skits for season 2, And we remain doing the music videos. One of the bigger tasks we have taken on is recording our new mixtape. The name of it is Rookie TV presents: “The Wackest Mixtape EVER!”

“The main question we get is why the hell would we name it that?” Well for starters we are really rapping on the thing. All the rumors about us just having a bunch of artists on it and we will just host it are totally false. Thanks to some of Chicago’s hottest unsigned producers and MCs Big DAVE and I are recording all these tracks personally. Now, off to why we call it Wack…DAVE and I arent real artists. Period. We cant really rap, we are just fans paying homage to the real artists! I guess now is the time to tell you who else is on this bad boy other than our stankin asses:

Just to name a few.

We have been recording it since July of 2009 and hopefully we will be done sometime before Summer of 2010. We been blessed with a commitment by the great Kinga representing Kinga Photography that she will be Rookie TVs official photog. This is such an honor to us because her pictures are some of the best we have seen captured by a photog in Chicago and we glad others slept because now is our turn with her :) Speaking of sleep, that is one thing Chill will not do.

I try to put him in the playpen for the sessions and the same thing happens everytime. He hates it in the damn thing and acts as if it is the PEN where the government sends outlaws to get anally raped LOL. In fact seconds after the picture was taken, he went right back to crying as if Kinga wasn’t there. He ends up being brought out of the pen and gets in the mix of things until he passes out LMAO! Daddy is cool with it because he tuckers himself out something awful. She sent a bunch of photos from the session we just had.

Today’s Session was held at Dee Jackson’s crib. This guys crib is faaaaaaaaaaar out. Last time we were here I had my car and I can remmeber how long that ride was. http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/101/l_6daacde707d046ef9f53fba03db54b85.jpgDee was mad cool as always. Last time Tall Black Guy was there and actually cut the beat we were to rap on right in front of us. Now since Tall Black Guy has moved to California (but he is still with us in spirit) Dee sat at the computer and let us listen to beats for hours as we picked one by one the tracks we would rap on. He was the engineer and did better than alot of guys that been engineers all their lives if you ask me. We felt like we were with family.

Afterward, we recorded song on a nice R&B friendly beat for a song called “Camel Toe.” Since Big DAVE came up with it in the first place I blame him for that bull LOL. http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/74/l_04f2d3d2183340c7adc9585b77183597.jpg We couldn’t get C-Dub to spit at all but he did have the camera so be looking out for the behind the scenes videos. This shit has never been done to my knowledge so we have been filming every embarrassing step of the way.

Other than he having a background in Radio (2 degrees), and me taking a few classes we both started out as rappers. We just broke up before we made our first album LMAO go figure. We did however do a few tracks, you got to look long and hard for them, but I bet none of you know where they can be found! I dare you search!!

DISHONORABLE MENTION: BLOG EDITION

2009 December 2
by bigdave7911

YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Hey world.  Did you guys read the blog Rook left about Tiger?  Freakin’ hilarious! (as usual)  Right on time, wasn’t it?  Tiger need to start being himself!

Honestly though, why are people shocked that THE most powerful man in sports and THE most recognizable athlete in the world is GSP’n? (Gettin’ Some Pussy. Shout to my man Tone. Forever GSP son!)   Shocking!  He is not a normal person, people.  He doesn’t live by “normal” standards. If one of us ran our damn Yugo into a tree, we would be crying right now and still driving it around!  He will never see that Escalade again.  Leave him be.  I’m sure he wants to be faithful, but there is just one small problem: He has a dick!  FOH!

Oh and real quick, new Sade album drops Feb. 8th.  Its called “Soldier of Love”.  I’m too excited!  This is the album cover:

She is 50, people!! 50 years old! She is fine as frog hair!  DAMN!!

Also, I got this unreleased Common joint featuring John Legend with Kanye West on the beat.  Its called “Strange Fruit”.  RE-DAMN-DICULOUS!  I swear, the shit they throw away is better than some people’s whole album!  Like the guys who are making “The Wackest Mixtape Ever”, that shit is garbage (Can’t wait for y’all to hear that. Rook is nice people.  Seriously.) Download Com Sense below by copying the link and pasting it in the address bar:

On to other things. Folks if you have never seen the show we do called Graffic Audio (Shame on you! Tear falls down my left cheek… check it out at rookietv.com) there is a wonderful segment on it called “Dishonorable Mention”, where we shine light on the complete atrocity of music and videos that are so bad that they need there own segment.  We have had some real gems on there, homey.   Well, I have decided to bring that segment to my blog.  (Rook did this also in a previous blog of his, so check it out the older blogs and laugh some more)

First up, is my man M.C. Hammer.   This has got to be the video where he took a look at his career and was like, what the fuck am I doing?  This has to be the reason he hasn’t had a music video since.  Its call “Pop Yo Collar”.  After this, I wanted to pop myself.  In the head.  Remember when poppin your collar was the thing to do? Well Stanley Kirk Burrell put an end to that shit!  With a damn mallot.  While watching this, check out the dances he invents, the Wal-Mart jersey, and the horrible production of the video.  Poor Hammer.  I hope you get it together.  At least he put on a show back in the day (Honestly I would pay money to see him now.  Nobody performs or rocks crowds like that anymore with exception to Kanye and KRS-ONE.  I’m forgetting a few dope ones but if I’m wrong please let me know.)  So without further ado, from the album “Active Duty” in 2001, that featured the “hot” (HAHAHAHAHA)  single “No Stoppin Us”, ( just as horrible.  He had a coat on in that video that looked like he shot the Abominable Snowman)  the first edition of Dishonorable Mention: Blog Edition. (Tear falls down my right cheek.  This time for laughter…)

Did you do your Puppet Pop?  Did you Deliver the Pop? I know I did!!  I did a new one called Pissin’ Pop. That’s when I pissed Coke in my pants from laughing at this wack ass shit!

If you have any wack videos that you feel should be on Dishonorable Mention:Blog Edition, send them to bigdave@rookietv.com.  Until next time people, stay wonderful and beautiful, and do the River Pop!!

Forever Pop’n Off,

Big DAVE

Pugs Atomz and Rashid Hadee have forged their individual paths and together look to establish a new mark of excellence on the DJBooth.net and FakeShoreDrive.com Presented “Stormy” LP.

“Stormy” blends Hadee’s soulful interpretations along with Atomz evocative lyrical imagery to create an elemental integration that juxtaposes humor and intuition. Hadee and Atomz meld their unique and acclaimed styles to reign their own brand of musical understandings of love, life, and hip-hop. Guest vocals are kept to a minimum (Von Pea drops in on “Hand on the Bible”) and the production is handled mostly by Hadee, with help from Grant Parks, Race, Hakeem, Fathom 9, Ram Nation, Tall Black Guy, and Duro.

Recorded between 2007 and 2009, take a walk into the world of two of Chicago’s brightest; welcome to the “Stormy” LP.

WTF is up with Tiger Woods? Tiger Woulds knew 3yrs ago.

2009 November 30

http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/8/m_1848d13b12910417baa06432594909ef.jpg

As a writer I know that we as artists get used to a certain way of getting the inspiration for our projects and that becomes our routine. My routine believe it or not is writing from dreams I have. Sounds crazy, but alot of the skits you see with my name on them specifically came from a very groggy Rookie during a fit of insomnia. About 3 years ago was was in bed sleep and got one hell of an idea. The idea centered around Tiger Woods and not only how great he was as a golf icon, but also how spotless hes record was and how this could be translated to comedy. The following weekend at the Rookie TV meeting I brought it up to the crew and they were game to shoot the damn thing. We decided to change the characters name to avoid liable and thus was the birth of Tiger Woulds.

http://www.babble.com/CS/blogs/strollerderby/lg_woods_ap-01.jpg

During the meeting we talked about casting and played with the idea of C Dub playing Tiger Woulds. Its seemed like a great idea to me but then I believe Big DAVE suggested we use a seasoned Rookie TV vet, James. He played in Beaters and Meatshake and proved himself to be very reliable and talented as well.
http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/10/l_06bd0d0a730c708cd6beb4d841866697.jpg
I gave James a call a few days later and told him my idea about the skit. He was thrilled as usual but for some reason or another (lack of budget) we didnt shoot for another few months. The shoot went well and despite James inability to even play golf we came out with some damn good footage for a funny skit.

We decided to center on a story rather than an actual script or dialog and concentrate heavily on actors developing their characters before the camera and the editing (typical of a skit I come up with.) Our characters consisted of Tiger Woulds of course,

And a few others as well. This was a very experimental shoot but we got it done in 1 day of shooting.

I went home and the footage was burning a hole in m computer table. I HAD to cut something really fast because I felt it. The result was a sort of interview with Tiger himself in an uncut sort of a style that eluded to his drastic changes in his behavior pattern. I wanted to show Tiger as having himself as his worst enemy.

This video was wildly hilarious to me as I was at the computer and I could tell that when I uploaded it in order to promote its airing it would produce somewhat of a following. i got some support and some views but nothing like the video of the dog standing on his hind legs while peeing or the video of the one guy wiping out while trying to do a back flip off the soda machine. Yet and still I cut another promo. This time I focused on how the life of Tigers former caddy, Steve had changed since being fired.

Ideally this skit would have came out years ago, but as I complain all the time it is very difficult to work without a budget. Here is it 2009 and the dawn of 2010 Micheal Jackson is dead, Barack Obama is president and the real Tiger Woods is involved in a scandal.

Now I am the last person to believe in a scandal basically because I could care less, but TMZ showed their credibility as a news source by getting the first pictures of Jackson’s body being taken to the hospital. Now, they are at it again getting the first pics of the Escalade that belonged to Tiger Woods after his accident.
http://www.usmagazine.com/uploads/assets/articles/29772-lawyer-tiger-woods-has-no-plans-to-speak-to-police/1259589553_car.jpg

As reported by TMZ: Police first tried to interview Woods, 33, on Friday, but his wife asked if they could return the next day because he was sleeping. Woods shooed them away Saturday and again on Sunday.

TMZ.com claims the Florida Highway Patrol is now focusing on obtaining a search warrant — allowing them to seize medical records from the hospital that treated Woods — in an attempt to determine if the wounds Woods sustained are consistent with a car accident or domestic violence.

TMZ has reported that Woods didn’t suffer facial lacerations from a car accident, adding that injuries were inflicted by his wife, Elin, who was upset over reports that he had an affair with Rachel Uchitel.

http://www.theimproper.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/rachel-uchitel.jpg

As stated on www.theimproper.com Rachel Uchitel, a sometime club hostess, is a well-known party girl in the Hamptons, who has a reputation for pursuing celebrities. She is at the center of a supposed scandal that sent Tiger Woods – and his marriage – careening into the rough in an early Friday morning car crash.

The Enquirer said it had multiple sources and polygraph tests to back up its reporting and has further details to release.
http://www.theimproper.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/RachelUchitel-Hamptons.jpg
For her part, Uchitel denied having an affair. She told Black Book magazine that the Enquirer twisted her words and used quotes from Ashley Samson, a woman who claimed to be her friend, to confirm the rumors.

“Rachel told me, ‘I’m having an affair with Tiger Woods. We’re in love!’ She even read me text messages Tiger sent her that said ‘I love you, babe. It’s always going to be just you and me. They were constantly sexting,” Samson was quoted as saying.

But Rachel denied the assertions. “I totally deny the Enquirer story. They did contact me about it, but they didn’t use any of my quotes or any of the information I gave them. They make it sound like I said those things, but it’s all other people saying I said things.”

Samson reportedly said that Uchitel and Woods were engaged in heavy sexting – sending racy text messages to each other – but she denied sending sexy messages.

“I don’t appreciate my name or what people think of me being dragged through the mud by people who don’t even bother to research what or who they’re talking about … they should research who these stories are coming from, who they’re believing as a credible source. Not to mention that it’s in the National Enquirer,” she said.

TMZ.com also reported that a source said Nordegren scratched Woods’ face after she went berserk and chased him with a golf club, striking his vehicle as he ran from the home. The Web site said the source talked to Woods after the smashup.

http://i.a.cnn.net/si/2006/golf/specials/ryder_cup/2006/09/20/tiger/p1_tigerelin.jpg

Police say that Tiger’s wife, Elin Nordegren told the police two different stories. The first one she told, was that she went looking for Tiger in a golf cart, saw the accident, and then used a golf club to bust out the window to get Tiger out. You gotta applaud her for putting in the golf cart in the story…that was classy :)

The second story she told, was that she walked out of the house, saw the crash, and then ran back into the house to get a golf cub to break out the window. There was no mention of a golf cart in the second story.

Police arrived to find Woods, drifting in and out of consciousness, lying in the street with his wife watching over him. He was taken to a nearby hospital about 10 minutes later.

Woods himself spoke to the public in a statement recently apologizing, yet saying nothing at the same time. Damn PR people make alot of money! Woods also spoke out Sunday, saying on his website: “This situation is my fault and it’s obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I’m human and I’m not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn’t happen again.”

The really weird thing about this entire situation is that our video spoof created 4 yrs ago and shot 3 years ago puts us in the position to gloat with pride, but we at Rookie TV love Tiger Woulds, I mean Woods and hope the best to come of the situation. Man, rich people have it bad. I mean how is someone supposed to have an affair if all these damn cameras are around taping your every move. I guess the fellas and I should be glad we are still broke. Who is to say that we wouldn’t be in the headlines in place of this golf Icon. We are praying for you Tiger. Shout out to N. Doeur for the pics of the shoot. Get your situation straight however you have to do it and move on fam. Please read this, love this, spread this.
